ByCamp - whether to be anti-conference in Minsk?

What conference? Go big or do not remember very hall, one uttering something clever man, and a whole lot of openly sleeping listeners, reminding members of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR at the meeting on agricultural policy. Skukotischa!

But no one does not refute the usefulness of conferences, that's the case. People gather, discuss topics of interest to them, share experiences, and so on ... And then there is the eternal question: What to do?

Fortunately, the output is, in and out, this is already included (pardon the pun) in the minds of millions of people around the world. He called BarCamp. BarCamp is not for nothing called the anti-conference, because he has no classical institutional elements of the conferences, for example, rigidly defined schedule, the Organizing Committee, responsible for everything. In the process, at BarCamp not even listeners! Because all of us will automatically become participants, organizers, coordinators - no one is idle. At the same time people feel absolutely free, relaxed, and no rules can not prevent them to communicate, to talk about anything, to present anything, learn, relax, relax, work, even drink beer! Naturally, all within a given topic, which can be very vague even. Like it?

And quite a logical question. Over the past two years barcamp took place in many countries of the former Soviet Union, but for some reason, Belarus is a party to circumvent the phenomenon persists. Until now. While we do not understand that something must be done.

And that something has resulted in a very soulful barcamp format minibar (on a small number of participants and budget camp), held outdoors on Sept. 6, 2008.

A few words about the organization. Peculiarity of our BarCamp was a careful approach to the selection of participants, the event almost never publicized. But those 17 people represent a near-perfect slice of the Belarusian Internet. Starting from bloggers and ending with web developers - all felt very comfortable and cozy. Another feature of the event was the lack of budget and sponsors. It was prepared and carried out exclusively by barkemperov! And it happened very well. No one felt the lack of any supplies, no food (oh, that fried chicken!), And a couple of people have denied themselves a bottle of beer, what they did well, can not be blamed. We had a flip chart and markers, seating the audience and a platform for speakers, were the computers and the Internet. The only thing lacking in such cases, a traditional projector, but sorry - the same forest! By the way, the weather was just wonderful.

I was very active in the organization and I can authoritatively say that we are more tryndeli than done:) The event of this level could prepare and conduct a week. But what a pleasure for discussion, which lasted almost a month! We were the first, and therefore had to show a decent level. Show or not - to judge the participants.

I do not know what aspect of BayKempa cover in more detail, better remember a couple of interesting episodes and moments.

• In the absence of auxiliary presentations on a projector to get out of the participants had to engage in improvisation, more closely communicate with the audience, which led to a very nice incidents.
• We recorded all the presentations on video! More precisely, on camera. And very soon it will all be available!
• Site http://bycamp.net/ was invented and shipped in record time. Even myself surprised.
• Late for various reasons, the participants were not easy to reach from the bus stop to our meadow. Excuse!
• Operate smoothly brazier-team is just a miracle! Thank you great!
• The atmosphere of ease sometimes exceeded all limits. For example, the speaker of sausage on a fork, telling about the content management system - it was something!
• No aftepati. Sorry:)

Ufff! What's next?

Further there will be more. BayKemp will be scheduled three times a year, ie every 4 months old. Of course, I want more. We understand that such things can and should be carried out. The adequacy of the participants and the discussions were at a height, which I, in truth, did not expect. We will try to seek sponsors, more in touch with barkemperami Eastern European countries to share experiences, learn - but in general do what we really like it!
